On Wednesday night we took Hurley to after hours. He didn't look good for a couple of days (well really it has been off and on for a few weeks now). His nose was runny-clogged and green goobery. He is getting a top tooth so I wondered if it was that??? I don't know. Well Wednesday morning my mom and I noticed a rash that covered his torso, neck, and upper legs. I felt bad for Hurley. Even though he didn't feel good he was still a HAPPY baby. The doctor tested him for Strep-which came back negative. Unsure of what it was we started two medicines that I hope will make a difference.
Now for today. Darwin took Jensyn to after hours when he got home from work. She had blood shot eyes that were goobery. She has PINK EYE. Poor thing. So there will be lots of hands washing and no eye touching. Yeah, that is easier said than done. She also has an upper respiratory infection. Which is not a HUGE surprise. She coughs a lot (especially at night). The last few nights she throws up around 11:30 (lots of phlegm).
Sometimes I feel like a dumb mom. It is hard to know when the kids need to go to the doctor's office. I am glad that the kids went though. I expressed some of my concerns about being a dumb mom to the doctor on Wednesday and he said, "Nobody was born a parent. It is learning experience and I am sure you are doing better than you realize." That made me feel better. Now if I could just find something to make my sweet kids feel better...

When to take kids to the doctor has always been a difficult decision for me too. Too soon and you look like a worry wart-and waste that much needed $$$. Not early enough and you look like a dumb mom. Been there-and still I do not know when to go. I hope the kids start feeling better soon!
I do like what the doc told you. We each do the best we can.
It is so sad when they are sick. But Hurley was being so happy!! It is great that there is after hours available, instead of suffering through another nite, or going to the ER!! Hope they feel better soon!
It's so hard when the little ones are sick. They just lay there feeling miserable. But there is some good snuggle time that you can get from them :) Good luck!...and you are a great momma!
Sometimes you really wonder where that mother intuition is. You did the right thing though. Don't worry about it.
I am sure you are a great mom! I too hate making the decision of finally going to the doctor. I hope your kids get better soon, sick kids are the worst!

Man, there is nothin worse than having sick kids! I feel so bad for them! Samantha looks at me like 'Mommy, why dont you make it better?' Breaks my heart!
